A gang of bank robbers led by Rory Calhoun are planning a robbery. They encounter Walter Brennan and his coming of age daughter, the amazing Colleen Miller, in tow and from the very first scenes this one sets itself up as a steamy, sexy western. For a Fifties Western, this one actually gets pretty racy in scenes between star Rory Calhoun and Colleen Miller. At first she doesn't look like anything special, being a tomboyish type, but various states of undress and repeatedly finding ways of getting soaking wet has a way of doing wonders for her figure. Her father, Walter Brennan, is not about to let some loser outlaw woo his daughter but the sexual energy between them is a force of nature. Lest I forget to mention this is an action movie as well, with Calhoun exuding machismo at every opportunity. There's Apache attacks, fisticuffs, shoot-outs, deaths and chases, all the stuff we western fans love in our 50s oater diets. There's a running fun thread that sees Jay Silverheels (who gets the best costume) and George Nader taking each other on in friendly bouts of fighting, while a sub-plot involving Nina Foch and Charles Drake adds meat to the thematic stew. But it is Miss Miller's sexy, curvy figure that is the real star of this one!

Four Guns to the Border is a very strange western, particularly for the 1950s. Here the outlaw machinations of Rory Calhoun's gang of robbers is firmly secondary to the sex appeal of Colleen Miller. The film is ripe with suggestive sexual imagery as we watch Miller blossom from tomboy daddy's girl into a sex-kitten. There is nary a moment missed to sexualize the stunning Miss Miller: she gets wet a lot (and looks amazing doing it), she suggestively licks a candy stick, she lays in a number of suggestive poses, she finds herself in various states of undress, and on it goes for the entire film. Back in the 1950s, when adult material was not nearly as readily available as it is now, this was very hot stuff.
