Matt Ballot (Steve Cochran) has returned home after abandoning his family for 12 years of hard drinking in all 48 states. But he finds his wife (Ann Sheridan) has managed to raise their 14 year daughter and 12 year old son quite nicely without his help. Matt also finds he is considered a disgrace to the town and suffers no end of insults and sleights. Fortunately, his family's farm has seen better days which gives Ballot a chance to set about trying to put his life back together while winning back the love of his family and the respect of the townfolk. |
